What Exactly Is the Partnership?

Here’s how it works! 📋 KNU will export its entire academic curriculum to FPT University in Vietnam. KNU will oversee both instruction and administration. Vietnamese students will complete the SAME coursework offered in Korea and earn a degree conferred by KNU. FPT is Vietnam’s largest IT company with core businesses in software and telecommunications, making this a perfect tech-education partnership!

Why This Is Different from Past Programs

This goes WAY beyond what Korean universities have done before! 🚀 Until now, national universities’ overseas activities were mostly limited to faculty and student exchanges or joint programs. Some PRIVATE universities like Ajou and Inha already had similar franchise programs. But this is the first time a PUBLIC university is fully integrating curriculum delivery, academic administration, AND degree conferral overseas.

KNU Vietnam Launching This Year

The timeline is exciting! 📅 KNU and FPT University signed a memorandum of agreement in Hanoi on Thursday. They will establish “KNU Vietnam” in Hanoi and begin offering KNU’s academic programs in the second half of 2026. Financial management will be handled by FPT locally, while Korean faculty members may be dispatched to teach and support the program!

Government Support and Regulatory Changes
